Lynne Baybut

Professional proofreading for consistency and accuracy

Hello, I’m Lynne – I’m a qualified and experienced proofreader.

I trained with the highly regarded Publishing Training Centre, and passed their Basic Proofreading course with a distinction. If you choose to work with me, you can be confident that your writing will be in safe hands.

If you’d like to see some of the books I’ve worked on recently, please click on this link and scroll down the page.

If you’re looking for support to polish your academic work, I can help. I have successfully completed two courses with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP): Proofreading Theses and Dissertations; and References.

I work with publishers and independent authors, and can proofread both fiction and non-fiction.

I also enjoy working with charities, public and private sector organisations, and small businesses.

If you’re not sure whether your document needs a proofread, a copyedit, or something else, that’s fine. I’m happy to advise you on the right sort of editing for your work.

Every proofreading job is different, so I provide a quote for each project – find out more about this here. I base my quote on how long it will take me to proofread your work. My standard rate is £10 per 1,000 words (based on being able to proofread 2,500 words per hour). Please do contact me for a free, no-obligation quote.

Please use the menu buttons above to find out more about proofreading and how I can help you. If you have any questions, please get in touch at hello@lynnebaybut.com

“Lynne has been working with us since August 2022 and in that time she has always been responsive, flexible and diligent. Her proofreading is of a very high quality and she quickly gets under the skin of house style guides. We look forward to working with her for many years to come.”

Rhiannon Gilbertson, Head of Account Management, Accuracy Matters

“Lynne is quick, accurate and a pleasure to work with. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.”

Andy Patterson, Publisher, History Today

“Working with Lynne to produce our volunteer magazine is a pleasure. As well as her friendly and professional manner, she works swiftly and accurately with a great eye for detail; always noticing errors that I miss. She has taken on our internal style guide and edits, with this in mind, with ease. Lynne not only spots grammatical errors but has a skill for rephrasing sentences in a sympathetic and sensitive way, which is important to our article authors. Lynne works quickly without compromising accuracy. She is an integral part of our team and without her we wouldn’t be able to send our magazine to print with confidence.”
